Over 2 million poor children in Sri Lanka dream to touch a computer. Our effort is to materialize their aspirations. 121 Village Information Centres (VIC) guide them in this journey.
2008 / 2009:
During 2008, we have introduced ICTs to 212,400 poor people, in 10 districts of Sri Lanka.
Impact we made includes:
- over 5000 acquired help desk services
- about 3223 people accessed ICTs just at 6 Fusion-telecentres
- capacity building of 450 telecentre operators
2007 / 2008:
During 2007, we educated and guided 111,600 poor people all around Sri Lanka. Among them, 24,480 people accessed ICTs through 10 telecentres.
Impact we made on Grassroots communities -
- over 111,600 poor people had been educated on ICTs and prepared for the information age.
- 24,480 people accessed ICT facilities through Sarvodaya telecentres alone.
- 87,120 villagers (rural people) had been served by VIC (village information centres)
- 258 Rural youth received ICT skills development
