“IT” is a demanding factor in future for job placements said by Mr. NICK Nicola, the CEO of HSBC on the occasion of scholarship handing over ceremony took place on 4th October 2010 at Sarvdoaya District centre, Trincomalee attending as a chief guest. The Project “Building ICT Skills in North and East” launched on December 2009 by Sarvodaya-Fusion stepping on IT promotion in North and East sector partnering with HSBC and Microsoft as a collaborative project. Other than the Microsoft support, HSBC provided hardware support and 200 full IT scholarships for North (100), East (50) and South (50) students for enhancing their IT knowledge and Skills for future development who have undergone hardships during last three decades due to un wanted ethnic war.
This was the fifth ceremony organized by Sarvodaya for handing over HSBC full scholarships. At this ceremony 50 selected students from Trincomalee (26), Kantalai( 14) and Ampara (10) received full IT training scholarships comprising three ethnic communities Sinhala, Tamil and Muslims for forthcoming IT training in Trincomalee, Kantalai and Ampara.
Guests were warmly welcomed in a Tamil Traditional culture by Sarvodaya Trincomalee staff whilst giving opportunity to understand the culture it is. For this occasion, Mr. Nick Nicola, CEO of HSBC & Mrs. Nicola joined as Chief Guests. Mrs. Dilini Fernando, Manager Cooperate Sustainability- HSBC, Mr. Ravi Ariyawickrama, Deputy Manager-Fusion, Mr. S. Sumanasiri, Skills Development Coordinator-Fusion too attended for this ceremony representing HSBC and Sarvodaya Fusion. In addition to them, over 100 people including Students, Sarvodaya Trincomalee staff members and other invitees attended.
