“Building ICT skills in North and East” the project implemented by Sarvodaya Fusion partnering with Microsoft and HSBC enhancing IT knowledge and skills of youths in North and East districts for increasing job opportunities and higher education for them.
Handing over the HSBC full IT training scholarships for 3rd batch of 25 Jaffna students out of 100 took place in Jaffna Sarvodaya District Centre on 28th September 2010. The ceremony took place with the participation of staff members of HSBC, Fusion, Sarvodaya District Centre and past and present scholarship holders. For this ceremony Mr. K. Aravinthon, Branch Manager –HSBC Jaffna Branch attended as chief guest and Mr. Ravindra Ariyawickrama, Deputy Manager-Fusion and Mr. S. Sumanasiri, Skills Development Coordinator-Fusion attended from Fusion headquarters.
In chief guest speech, he noted that the importance of IT training for future development and wished students for success future. Whilst congratulating students for Mr. Ravi Ariyawickrama, said that, the rare opportunity they received for having this training and asked student to maintain regular attendance for classes and continue the education for successful gain of IT knowledge. Though it was rare opportunity, only 13 scholarship holders out of 25 attended for receiving their grant letters on this occasion and three of them informed their inability to come for the ceremony.
